Governor Matt Meyer has signed Senate Bill 145 into law, immediately updating Delaware’s Workers’ Compensation Act with important reforms. The new law authorizes insurers and self-insured employers to offer direct deposit for disability benefit payments, streamlining delivery while boosting security and convenience for injured workers. It also raises the state’s reimbursement rate for workplace safety and inspection programs from 66.6% to 100%, ensuring full funding for critical hazard prevention and compliance efforts that help reduce claim frequency and severity. In addition to these substantive improvements, SB 145 includes technical updates to align statutory language with modern drafting standards. These changes reflect Delaware’s ongoing commitment to a more efficient, safer, and worker-centered compensation system.
