Job Summary:
The Field Representative works independently within a prescribed territory under the supervision of the Manager of Field Operations. The Field Representative is responsible for contacting employers to obtain information for the Pennsylvania Compensation Rating Bureau (PCRB) or the Delaware Compensation Rating Bureau’s (DCRB) classification and test audit programs. Work assignments can be completed either by phone (virtually) or in person at the employer’s location. The information obtained is used to verify the accuracy of insurer reported classifications, exposures and base premiums in accordance with the approved classification systems, program rules, and other industry standards.
Essential Responsibilities:
• Upon receipt of assignments, schedule appointments for surveys and test audits within 30 days and notify the Manager of Field Operations of any schedule delays
• Classification surveys and test audits are conducted by hybrid method depending upon exposure, authorized classification, or management determination
• Interview employers or accountants to gather the required information to perform the test audits and surveys
• Review employers accounting records, which include payroll records, contracts and tax reports. Reconcile the payroll records to employee data
• Summarize the payrolls by classification based on employee’s duties applying manual rules
• Obtain information regarding the employer’s business operations and/or facilities and provide a detailed, comprehensive description of operations
• Organize notes and develop a comprehensive survey report and complete audit worksheets
• Prepare and submit completed assignments in accordance with department standards
• Maintain records of all expenses and submit a monthly expense report to Manager of Field Operations for approval
• Complete special audits as required in a timely and expeditious manner
• Provide proper care/maintenance to PCRB owned equipment which may include, but is not limited to, the company car, laptop, and cell phone
• Timely and consistent attendance
Non – Essential Responsibilities:
• Provide advice and expertise to insureds, agents, and carriers as needed
• Perform other miscellaneous duties as requested
Requirements:
Education: Bachelors Degree – Business, Finance, or related field strongly preferred. Professional designation (APA and/or CPCU) a plus.
Experience: 1-3 years Field Auditor experience
Skills Required: Strong organizational, communication, decision making, self-discipline, and written skills with the ability to work independently and adapt to various situations. PC proficient; Microsoft Word and Excel a plus. Communicate effectively with all levels of PCRB personnel and outside contacts. Must be able to manage multiple assignments and prioritize tasks accordingly.
Working Hours:
Normal Bureau Hybrid Flex time is available. Normal PCRB/DCRB business hours should be maintained for field work and write up days. Employee must be flexible when needed as projects or deadlines may sometimes necessitate extended hours.
